Post: Starting out with Air BnB

I’m looking at properties in which I can Air BnB a room or 2 out of, since I am in an area several minutes from a beach and a military base. I’m just curious if anyone had any tips or info I wouldn’t otherwise find on the AirBnB Host FAQ.
Hope everyone’s 2020 is wrapping up positively!

@Brendan VanDalinda I’m in a similar situation with starting out and raising money for a down payment, and personally, I’ve found furniture and home item resale is my most effective ways to get chunks of cash at a time. When I see items on the side of the road that I know I could resell for at least $10, I load it up in my car to take home. I clean it up, take pics, post to Facebook marketplace, and try to sell in under a week so I can make room for more items to sell. I’ve raised a couple thousand dollars over the last year just reselling free or cheap items I found on curbs, yard sales, and thrift stores. It definitely takes some time and effort to find and list items like this, and depending on where you live, weather or city rules may limit what can be found curbside. However, just going on Facebook market place and searching “free,” you can find some goodies from people moving out or people who just don’t have time to take things to the local donation center. Highly recommend!

Hello everyone! My name is Isabel, and I currently live in Wilmington, NC. I am a recent graduate from UNCW in Exercise Science with plans to continue to graduate school to secure a career that is a bit more recession-proof than real estate, just in case another 2020 level disaster should strike again. Currently, I have no real experience in real estate, but I have family members and influences in my life who invested in real estate and inspired me to pursue real estate investing to build long-term wealth and achieve financial independence. I have been working through the Bigger Pockets podcasts and prepping my finances over the last year to buy my first property in 2021. The long term goal is to acquire enough rental properties to work part-time by 35 and retire by 45. The short-term goal is to house-hack with a duplex or single-family home in the greater Wilmington area, since real estate is out of budget for me in Wilmington. The most appealing approach for me is the BRRR method, although I am open to other opportunities as they present themselves. So we'll see how it goes!
Thanks for checking this out! I value any input or opportunities that may arise from this community, and I look forward to building experience and connections in real estate investing with Bigger Pockets!
