Hello everyone,

I am a college student that is set to graduate 2028. I will be going on internships on and off between semesters which is how I get income, and my student loans will be covered by my parents. I currently have 15k saved up and I am eager to learn how and when I will be able to house hack near the Cincinnati or Blue Ash area. My savings are low for now and my income is not super stable. When and how should I be able to start house hacking? I am very determined to start as soon as I can but if I am not financially ready I should wait. What do you guys suggest?

@Sam McCormack Do you suggest using a mortgage broker or comparing lenders ourselves? I was thinking broker since they know much more about loans than we do, but they could go to favorable lenders and not show me every option. It is worth the fee? I will research brokers around the area and their reviews but what do you suggest?

My sister and I were looking to house hack a duplex around the Cincinnati Area. I am currently a student at the University of Cincinnati with 3 years left (5 year program due to 5 mandatory co-op rotations). I have 14k in savings, and I am going on co-op this summer making 23 an hour 40 hours a week. I will be switching on and off of co-ops every semester to make income, and my tuition is covered by scholarships and my parents. My sister is a full time nurse making 60k with no current loans. We both have credit scores around 730. With my complicated income status, would that be stable enough to qualify me to get a loan with my sister?
