Glad to hear you all can make it! I'm looking forward to succeeding along side you all in this exciting industry :)

It has been my pleasure getting this thing started. I love a good challenge.

Great turnout so far!

I encourage everyone to bring their spouse/significant other and/or friends if they are interested as well.  Just let me know their name(s) so I can print the name tags.

The more, the merrier!

@Ben Leybovich Well come on down here and warm up some. We are enjoying a balmy low 50's right now!

@Stanley H. Thanks, Stanley!  I have added you to our list.  Looking forward to meeting you and getting this thing rolling.

The date, time of day and venue have all changed for the meet.  Please see the final, updated Event page here:

http://www.biggerpockets.com/forums/521/topics/165368-north-carolina-nc-meet-raleigh-cary-apex-chapel-hill-durham

Greetings everyone!

This is the third post for this meet. Bellow, is the final, set-in-stone information from the first event page. The previous details have changed several times because of how fast the number of attendees has been growing.

Our inaugural BP meet for the area will be Friday, January 16th from 6-7pm. The venue is the Dogwood Room in the Community Center at Bond Park in Cary.

There will be no membership fees or sales pitching. Our goal is to have a friendly meet where people can discuss happenings in Real Estate and everything relevant to it.

To really create value for everyone, we are working on a structure that will be pretty unique and it is based on the concept of immersion. This general monthly meet will cover issues we all face in this rapidly changing economy (from laws and taxes to market behavior, etc.) and how we can work together to navigate and solve these obstacles.

As the months pass, we are hoping to have offshoot weekly meets that will each be centered on a specific topic. For instance, a weekly meet that 'majors' in creative financing. This would allow members to shift between meets and focus on what really interests them and is relevant to their goals. Just like learning a new language, learning investing is ideally done through immersing oneself into that specific 'area'. Instead of only being able to learn about creative financing once every few months when it gets cycled around and becomes the primary topic of say, the larger meets, now you would be able to be immersed in the 'lingo' and surrounded by other professionals in the same field weekly. I want you all to think of this as a buffet of knowledge and mentorship.

It won't feel like you're back in school, I promise :) My goal is for this to be professional and yet relaxed. I have no concerns about things like egos and experience hierarchies among those attending. We are all here to learn, grow, network and do business together. Also, in case you were wondering, this is not a 'suits and ties only' kind of event. Wear whatever is comfortable...if a tux is comfortable, then by all means :p

In the future, I would like to invite via Skype, guests who were speakers on the BP podcast. Having them give us a 20-30 minute webinar discussion/presentation on their field of expertise would be an invaluable learning experience. A benefit to this would be that we could ask the guests questions and get face-to-face answers/advise.

There will also be time to network and just have open discussions each meet.

Please send me a message here on BP confirming that you're attending the event. I will need this in order to put together tables, name tags and how much coffee, water and snacks to bring.

Looking forward to meeting you all! If you have any questions or ideas, please don't hesitate to give me a shout out. Also, please feel free to friend request me here on BP and Facebook if you'd like.

This meet is going places, people! We ARE creating value for our neighborhoods and communities. We WILL help to improve our economy. We are a meeting of very intelligent and ambitious minds with larger than life goals and we will all be swept off to success by each other. Remember, a rising tide lifts all boats (when we all give 110% to each other). My only question is: "Are you going to get on board?"

Check out, like and join in the discussions on our Facebook page, as this will be our primary point of contact and updates.

I am absolutely in favor of 5pm or even 6pm meets in the future.  The only limitation we are facing as of now is a consistent venue.  I believe that for the first few months, we will utilize a company that rents out board/meeting rooms in various companies' offices.  The current company I am using can rent past 5pm but each hour after 5pm costs about an extra $100 in addition to the current hourly rate for that room.  I don't mind footing the bill for us each month for a room for an hour, but if we are going to step into the $200/ hour range just to be able to meet at 5pm instead of 4pm, I may ask for people to donate a few bucks to help out.

I really am trying to keep this free for you all because I know that BP meets have such great potential and I really would not like this to become TREIA.  If anyone knows of a nice venue that may be cheaper/free and usable on a regular basis, please let me know.

Eventually we will be growing out of our shoes, so to speak, and may need a ballroom. But my goal is for you all to pay nothing even when this happens.

Greetings everyone!

This is the second post for the NC Raleigh, Cary, etc. meet.  This contains updated information from the first event page.

Our inaugural BP meet for the area will be Wednesday, January 14th.

There will be no membership fees or sales pitching.  Our goal is to have a friendly meet where people can discuss happenings in Real Estate and everything relevant to it.  We are hoping to have a structure where those experienced in a certain field of RE, will help to lead future meets, where we chose to discuss a specific topic (for example: Creative financing or syndication). There will also be time to network and just have open discussions each meet. It won't feel like school, I promise :)  In the future, I would like to invite via Skype, guests who were speakers on the BP podcast. Having them give us a 20-30 minute webinar discussion/presentation on their field of expertise would be an invaluable learning experience. A benefit, would be that we could ask them questions and get face-to-face answers/advise.

The meet will be in the evening, most likely from 4-5pm.  The venue that I am purchasing is a meeting room in the Captrust Financial Advisors building off of Six Forks road in Raleigh, across the street from North Hills shopping center.

IMPORTANT--before I can officially submit my request to purchase the room for the hour, I will need a head count of those attending.  Depending on the final number of attendees, the venue may change based on accommodation capabilities.

Please send me a message here on BP confirming your attending of the event.

I will see if they will let us bring coffee and snacks.

Looking forward to meeting you all! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to give me a shout out.  Also, please feel free to friend request me here on BP and Facebook if you'd like.

IMPORTANT!

Please note that both the event time and location have been changed from what is posted above.

The date is the same. Wednesday, Janurary 14th, 2015 at the Apex Eva Perry Library from 5-6:30pm. It will be held in their conference room.

We are not allowed to provide you with coffee, but I will bring water bottles. I was told that each person is welcome to bring their own coffee/drinks as long as there is a lid. Looking forward to it!

Hello everyone!

I have set up our official meet page on the 'Events and Happenings' forum.

http://www.biggerpockets.com/forums/521/topics/163...

Our group's Facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/biggerpocketsraleigh?ref=...

I would like most of our discussions to be on the Facebook page and I will transition any new investors over to there from our BP Events page.  I am still trying to figure out how to allow you all to post on the actual timeline on our FB page. Any thoughts on how?
