Hi Steph! A good foundation would be a combination of the following:
- Reading through this forum's posts - https://www.biggerpockets.com/forums/70
- Books
- Invest in Debt - Jimmy Napier
- Books by Dave Van Horn, Martin Saenz, Gordon Moss, other educators (haven't read them all but they came highly recommended)
- Scott Carson's videos on YouTube/Vimeo
- Podcasts
- The Note Closers Show
- Note MBA
- Good Deeds Note Investing
- Note Inc
You'll find great tidbits through these resources to help form a working knowledge. Hope that helps!

My current struggle is finding reputable buyers for my re-performing assets. I've been hearing horror stories about Joker Brokers re-sending out assets, even if posted in a closed Facebook group. Since I'm new to the space, I don't have a huge Rolodex of investors which would probably solve my problem.
And I 3rd the vendors. Since I don't have a reference point past the fall of last year, what I've found is many of the vendors that came recommended haven't totally met the mark. I guess it's a sign of a growing number of players in the space.

Ideally, the two would complement each other, especially as the market changes and inventory either dries up or I become priced out. I know the disdain for rental properties is usually the reason people head into notes (haha) but there are still some awesome benefits that notes just can't give us. Excited to hear how the big fish do it!
Big fish....little fish, we all run hungry. You are in Philly which is the mecca for note industry thanks to @Dave Van Horn and the family he has built there. He runs a great conference there that is coming up later this year. I recommend attending. Also, check out Amazon as there are some good books on Note Investing.
You're definitely right! Dave's book on was probably the first book I read on the subject. He then led me to Jimmy Napier's Invest in Debt. I'm embarrassed to say that I'm one of the few who hasn't read Note Investing Made Easier (yet!). So much to learn. Hope to see you at the Mid-Atlantic Summit!

Hi Sean,
Great to hear about your dive into notes! The first few places I have in mind for education are:
- This BP Forum
- Scott Carson - WeCloseNotes (YouTube, Vimeo, Podcast)
- Other podcasts (Good Deeds Note Investing, Note Inc, Note MBA, etc.)
- Educators like Eddie Speed, Martin Saenz, Scott Carson
- Dion DePaoli has incredibly useful, long form posts and responses here on BP
There are loads more but these alone would take you a long way with regards to education.

Hi John - a good (and common) compromise is to joint venture with someone who already has the education and relationships. You become the money partner, the other one does all the work, and the profit is split 50/50. That may lead to >10% returns as opposed to note funds. Though, either way, I think it still makes sense to get an education on the subject so you have at least a rudimentary knowledge of what you're putting your capital into.

Hey Jordan , is this a Bigger pockets podcast ? Id like to learn more about this business , I dont have much knowledge in it .
Hi Daniela, it is not a Bigger Pockets podcast but you can find it through Chris' website. They have an Open Mic every Thursday which has quickly become one of the most helpful resources (outside of BP forums) that I've found. Also make sure to check out Scott Carson's videos on YouTube/Vimeo. He has great content. Hope that helps!
