We have a team in place that does cleaning, maintenance, repairs and security. We have been lucky and haven't had much damage, but have had overbooking (reservation is for 5 and 15 people show up). So we've had to deal with that on a case-by-case basis. We use both VRBO and AirBNB. Most weekend rentals are AirBNB and longer stays book through VRBO. Happy to answer other questions too!

Single-family residence buy & hold investment.
We decided to purchase a short-term rental opportunity in a nearby beach community. We have been privately operating it for 5+ years and have enjoyed substantial appreciation during that time as well. We have the best of both worlds - a family vacation home that pays for itself and a well-performing, long-term investment.
