Thanks everyone for the help. I have also been looking into multi-family homes, haven't had much luck finding any in the cities that i like / in my price range.

This definitely is not a long term situation for house hacking a SFR but figured it is financially the smartest move for me right now.

Daniel - I would sit down with you and chat about this. Connect with me on here or linked in and we can discuss further.

Hello All,

I was curious peoples thoughts on House Hacking a SFR. I have a few buddies from college that will be living / renting from me after I purchase a home within the next couple of months.

My goal is to House Hack for a couple of years and then turn the whole house into a rental property. During the House Hacking period I will be having my roomates pay the mortgage while I save up enough money for a down payment on another property then keep snowballing off of that.

Thoughts? Any insight helps!
