@Salvatore Lentini

I really want to house-hack, I think it’s the best strategy to get started based on the research I’ve done. The cities that I am willing to send my children to school in have very few multi family properties. So, it’s either house-hack in a not so great school district (not an option) or start off in a single family home (what I’ll most likely end up doing).

Yes, I would definitely be interested in recommendations, as well as any other info you’re willing to share about your experience! Would you mind sending me a PM?

@Federico Gutierrez

That's definitely a possibility. I'm leaning toward FHA because my credit isn't the best (about 650 right now) and I was under the impression that I would need to put 20% down with a conventional loan.

Hello all! I am planning on house hacking a duplex using an FHA loan. Can anyone share experiences with FHA lenders? How to choose, what to look for? Any you would recommend or stay away from?

I’ve reviewed my credit reports & have paystubs and tax returns for the last 2 years, is there anything else that I should need?

Also looking for advice on finding/choosing a realtor. I’m very new to this & don’t really have any contacts or know anyone who has done this.

I am looking in the eastern suburbs of Cleveland, OH. Thanks in advance!
