If we want to fundamentally stop this problem, we need to put proper financial education into our school system.

How about to the lending institutions that decided it was a good idea to give 100% financing to people with terrible credit, that could not even pay their phone bill on time, with a loan that would adjust after 2 years, and were already paying over 50% of their gross income to their mortgage?

I don't want to bail them out either.

It seems pretty obvious that the pres is interested in long term results, and is satisfied letting the economy struggle for now.

Economic growth comes from increased consumption. With nearly zero job security in the economy as a whole, where is the consumption going to come from? No consumption means more property for sale and lower RE values. And the recession isn't ending this year, like the politicians want you to believe.

Michael, because as Americans, we hope for change and greener pastures ahead. Freedom of speech should not be ignored, and when an idea grabs momentum and support, the effect can be dramatic.

Shana, Barack's been president for a whole 3 months. Do you really think he's to blame for the recession?

Don, I think the lack of confidence is in the market and the economy, not the president.

As a California home loans professional, I do the best possible job for my clients. I've had many of my past borrowers as well as prospects call me, and ask my opinion of REO property. I've been suggesting to them that the process is rather long, and as long as they are willing to spend about 90 days going through the process, after they make an offer, that they can get a good deal.

From the standpoint of my time, I'm not sure if I want to work in this type of time consuming environment. How do you feel? Are dealing with REO's worth it?

When you originally schedule an appointment to walk through a property for the first time, is it wise to have a contractor meet you there, and give some estimates on the work that needs to be done? Will a GC do that?
