Congrats on the BRRRR. This is exactly what I would like to do as my first investment which leads me to my question. Since the Pre-Reno value was at $198,000( and with your investment of 7,500), what did the ARV appraise to be? Were you already networked with a mortgage company to Re-Finance to get the equity back out of it? I ask because I know that one of the biggest complaints people have had with BRRRR is their inability to Refi after the reno, or the ARV came in much lower than they expected. I appreciate anything you can share. The property looks great.

I have considered this, however truth be told, I do not think I could convince my wife (and 2 kids) to do this with me.  Best shot would be a live-in flip.  I agree that house hacking is an ideal starting point for a new investor.... however I do not thunk it will work for my situation.

Hello Bigger Pockets. I am a brand new member who is interested in supplementing my retirement income with long term Buy and Hold Rentals. I have served for 17 years and intend to stay an additional 10-13 years. My current thought after reading several books, listening to several podcasts and generally diving into the information available on this site is that I would like to use the BRRRR strategy for Buy & Hold Rentals. Being in the Navy, I am pretty much a professional Vagabond. That being the case, I am also interested in Long-Distance Rentals and building the capability to handle that (Currently Audibling David Greene's Book). I want to focus on Single-Family or Small Multi-Family properties where I can force the equity with a rehab and Refinance my funds back out. All about using the same money to build a portfolio. I look forward to engaging in this community and increasing the velocity of our money. Please do not hesitate to reach out.
