Post: Need Insight With This Scenario

Hello all! My mother's house is paid off, she will be retiring in her home country of the Philippines. We want to rent out the house. Do we take equity out of the house to renovate the house? I was also thinking of taking the equity and buying rental property. So after the renovations are done, the monthly rent would pay for the equity line of credit. Is this optimal? What would you do in this scenario?

Hi my name is John Te, 27, personal trainer. I was initially saving for a house of my own but now I am interested in rental properties, I've always like the idea of a vacation home and I think this is the path to take to eventually get there. My goal is to eventually have more than one rental property in different areas, I don't know how to get started. Doing my own research I found Bigger Pockets on YouTube and started watching. Looking forward to learning from this community!
