@Shawn Connors,
Thanks for setting the example...my wife and I are looking do the exact same things you mentioned in your post, so I hope to put together a well thought out plan as you've laid out. I've been in the AF for almost 15 years and I eligible for retirement in 7 more years...I just want make sure when I do decide retire, that it is actually retirement vs having to search for a second career post military service.

I love the blue print you've laid out...I have similar goals and would like to mimic what you've laid out, but with tweaks and motifications that meet the goals I'd like to achieve. Did you have assistance putting this business plan together or was this all worked on by yourself?

I'm working to build a legacy and knowing that real estate can potential make that happen gives me the drive I need to push through any obstacles. As a member of the armed forces, I know there is an expiration date on my Air Force career, but when that time comes, I don't want "have to" jump right back into the work force. I would prefer to have residual income to supplement my retirement and be able to pay back all the years my family sacrificed for me during my service - all I want is to be able to actually retire when my military career is done.

I just so happen to start looking more and more into the benefits of investing through real estate. As I continue to build my learning arsenal, I was struck with an idea in regards to housing development. I look at house that are on the market and many are cookie cutter type homes...what is the likelihood of becoming a housing developer? What connections within your network would I need? I'm assuming and architect, investor, and some form of up front equity...thoughts?
