Post: Wait for Multi Family home or buy a Single Family Home now for first property?

Hello, I am interested in getting into real estate and I am looking for my first property to purchase. I am 23 and graduated from college last year and have a decent savings for using an FHA loan to get started and I am currently renting an apartment. In particular looking for multi family homes for the cash flow but I am having a hard time finding them within my budget and in a decent place to live in my area since I would have to occupy the property for at least a year. I am not really interested in room by room house hacking unless I find a house with a basement that I could rent out. I seem to find a lot more single family homes in my area that I believe could appreciate over time which also interests me. Would it be better to wait for an opportunity to get a multi family or should I go ahead and jump in and get a single family to live in for a year then look multi family properties after ?
Hi , I am looking at a fourplex that I plan on using my FHA loan on to house hack for my first property. The location of the fourplex is located on a dead end street with about 20 of identical fourplexs' on both sides of the street, which seems odd to me . The location of the fourplex also isn't the best as it's on a rougher street . I am worried about the look and tenants of other fourplexes' along that street having an effect on the value and tenants I am able to get . Is that a rational fear ?

@Bo Goebel Thank you for the feedback! I can assure you I am not lazy but I understand that is how I came off. Thank you for giving me great feedback that I can use going forward. I’m only 19 so I am trying to leave as much as I can. I’m looking to get into wholesale right now as a college student. I want to get my feet wet in real estate and I believe that wholesaling would be a great place to start.
