First welcome to Bigger Pockets Luke! Second, congrats on starting young! Not only does starting young give you more time to make money and establish your business, you will have a huge advantage over the competition down the road when you have years of experience more than most of them. BP is a great place to learn about various methods of real estate investing, network with real estate investors in your area and around the world, and ask questions/seek advice when you need to.
The community here is second to none in their willingness to help other people, share information, and answer questions. This site can be a great resource, but like most resources you will ultimately get back what you put in. If you continue to interact, read the forums and blogs, and give back when possible you will be shocked at the possibilities.
Again, welcome and good luck!
Welcome to BP Chloe! What area of real estate investing are you hoping to learn more about? Do you have any previous experience?
Also, you should consider fully updating your profile and adding a picture...it really helps people as they discuss and interact with you. Again, welcome to BP!

I got my undergrad degree in Political Science. I went straight into the Air Force after graduating where I was a Maintenance Officer. While in the Air Force I took a lot of free courses in Finance, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Economics, etc. After those I CLEP'd out of every economics related class possible because I thought I would pursue and MBA.
I ended up not going for the MBA and probably will not. I do not have any formal real estate training.

Our market stayed much more stable than many markets around the country, but we are still seeing an increase in prices and less inventory. From what I have read, this has been pretty common around the country.
I believe there is still plenty of room for the small guy to be successful...although it might get a little more difficult. REI is always market specific though, and I doubt I will see as many institutional investors here as some other places.

Andrea M., you are likely to get more replies if you post specific questions or requests for information. I have seen a lot of posts with very broad questions or requests and they often get overlooked because people do not know where to start with an answer. Do you have any specific questions yet?

I was very hesitant when I first heard about CreditKarma but after doing some research and talking to others who use it I decided to give it a try. What a great tool...and FREE! As has been said, you do not get your true FICO score, just an estimate, but it does provide a ton of other useful information.
