Great to know about San Antonio. Any pointers on how I can get started? Thanks much.

Thanks everyone for the replies. @Jordan Moorhead, @Matthew Rolf, great question. Our plan is to invest in a relatively passive manner at the moment. So, interested in looking at properties that are in decent shape to begin with.

Hello everyone,

My wife and I are a young couple with a toddler who recently moved to Houston from California. We currently finance the house we are living in and are eager to get into RE investing with passive income and net worth growth goals in mind. We also want to diversify from the stock market and RE comes across as a great non-correlated asset class with good growth potential. While, we have dabbled with REITs, we are now looking to get closer towards the real assets.

Our preference would be to stick to markets within the driving distance from us such as, Houston, Austin and DFW with the idea of being able to personally vet the properties before investing.  Do the long timers and pro investors in the group have any suggestions on how we can get started. Appreciate any inputs and insights the group might have. Also, we both work full time jobs, which we do not plan on quitting anytime soon.

Regards,
