Granted I am a student and all my friends are concerned about going out at night, i watch every penny i spend, often times they joke about me being to tight. Sometimes they ask what im doing and i reply looking at houses, or on the real estate forum and they say "you would". The jealousy of ambition shines through their sarcastic grins. I personally think those who make fun of your for working hard or doing something that doesnt simply require a filled out application are secretly wanting that same drive. It could be me, but it seems like a recurring theme. I have no friends out of college yet with professional jobs so it will be interesting to see how they turn out, I hope its the best. But until then i think they are concerned that you will get too far ahead of them in the finance department and have more luxuries which seems to be the main thing on young peoples lives. I say stick to your ambitions, life will catch up to them when its time they get a real job.

I am curious to see if anyone has attended the Rich Dad Academy, which has been promoted by the author of Rich Dad Poor Dad. I went to the free informational meeting which was a pitch to sign up for the class. My brother and I and a couple others are taking the course together looking to gain critical knowledge in the REI field. Please let me know if you have attended it and what you thought, and also is anyone planning on attending this workshop?
Thank you all for considering the post.

Dick,
Thank you for the welcome. Through school i have been able to meet a lot of great people from the Rockford area, and my old high school football coach just moved up there to take an administrative job. I hope you do well in your investing also, and wish to keep in contact with you.

Stephanie,
My first house was in fairly good condition, i did have to replace the fuse box with a 100 amp breaker box, i added washer and dryer hook ups, and a few other smaller things. I thought that it was beneficial to buy a house that needed fixing up, but i decided to keep it rather than sell. Right now, i do not see myself in the near future rehabbing but do down the road. I completed my first deal last August, and hope to have another one this summer. Thank you for the reference to that group, I will have to check it out. Thank you for your support, and I wish you luck in your ventures as well.

Stephanie,
I plan on starting out with the residential market, in particular lower income housing, given that is what my position permits. But later on in life, i do want to take up commercial real estate. Only time will tell. But coming from Champaign, Bloomington for school at least doesnt seem near as entertaining given the different atmosphere. But my experiences there so far have been positive. ISU has been an enjoyable school to attend since it has a small school atmosphere with a large student body.

Hey everyone,
I just became a member yesterday, and I am looking forward to learning from all of you, and hopefully can share some knowledge on the way. I still have a lot to learn given that I am 20 years old. I decided to become proactive in the real estate investment realm last summer with the help of my father.
Just to share a little about myself, I am a student at Illinois State University in Bloomington, IL studying accounting. I wish to transfer to the University of Illinois to continue my accounting education. I hope that there are some ISU graduates out there that share my same background.
If you have any questions about me just let me know. I hope to get to know you all best as possible, and hopefully work with you sometime in the future.
