Hello everyone!

I am a louisville kentucky resident and considering becoming a real estate agent. I really enjoy everything I've been learning about real estate and I love to talk with people about it!

That being said im looking for a career change. I currently work as a paramedic and I've risen as far as I can go. I love helping people but I'm burning out. I believe in the old loving your job so that you never work a day in your life philosophy so that's what's turned me onto a career in real estate. I'm hoping I can get some solid advice before I start down this path.

First of all, do you guys enjoy your work? What's the best part of your job? What's the worst? I've also heard it's hard to make money in the field. While I don't doubt that's true for a slacker, is this true for someone who works hard as well?

My more technical questions are about licensing and employment. Who do you guys recommend for education and getting your license? What about employment once licensed?  Any companies to seek out or avoid?

Thanks for sticking with me to the end of this. I hope I'm generating some good discussion and I look forward to benefiting from the collective wisdom! Thanks again!

Yeah I think the biggest thing I've learned today is how much more I need to learn :-)

Joe if I could shake your hand I would. You've put into words what has been rattling around in my head and for that I thank you. Solid advice.

I understand what you're saying about using cash instead of spending it. I'm having difficulty with the money machine concept however. Could you give an example of a first investment like you're describing?

Excellent questions.  Thanks J! Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to talk my fisnce out of our current house to pursue house hacking.

I've actually been working on building credit for the last three years. It was 720 about a year ago but I don't know how that stacks up. We do fortunately have some very investor friendly local banks in town but I've only made initial contact with them. That'll definitely go on the list of questions I have for them.
