@Kevin Van Schepen really great information. I’ll work through and reach out with any questions I might have if you’re OK with it. I appreciate your help.

@Jacob Walls Congratulations! @Mike Lattier is exactly right. You'll want to make sure it's not already trademarked and registered with your state. If you plan on branding it, check to make sure you can claim the website and/or social media profiles. Good luck!

@Jaysen Medhurst good question! This is for office/retail/industrial - retail/office now and I'm hoping to invest across verticals eventually. Thanks for the background. I'm getting in touch with a broker to pick her brain and wanted to do some solid research before I show up.

As far as why commercial first - where I lack in real estate knowledge, I make up for in business. My day job involves building busineses - strategy and marketing (which I'm also investing in), so I'm more comfortable working in that space.

I appreciate your help.

Hi everyone!

I am just getting started in real estate. I found some great forum posts on running numbers for residential and have had trouble finding anything for commercial properties. Do you have recommendations or tips on how to best run the numbers to quickly rule out bad deals and/or see which ones I should get more information on? What's on your checklist? I know proformas aren't entirely accurate and am trying to do some due diligence before reaching out to the broker.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
