Is it legal for my chiropractic office to use our line of credit to fund a purchase of rental property? We constantly get offers for lines of credit but I always throw them away. This would be an easy way to get money but I'm not sure its legal. Is there a way for unrelated businesses to fund each other?

@Andrew Postell thank you! With our original LOC (which we closed when it was paid off) we used to open our health facility, we had to request lump sums, the reason, and occasionally receipts for larger amounts. I'm concerned they would not view real estate as an appropriate purchase and deny purchases. Are there ways around that or ways we should be sure it is structured so that is not an issue? I don't want ask the bank and tip off any red flags

My husband and I own a successful health facility and are frequently bombarded with offers for credit cards and lines of credit. I typically throw these away but we are starting to get our ducks in a row to begin our next venture in real estate. I understand the biggest issue for many is funding, we would have access to a large line of credit through our other business but I’m not sure of the legality of using that for our real estate business. Does anyone have insight on that or experience with multiple business financing?

Thanks!
