I've had an opportunity fall into my lap to buy 4 rental houses at once (all already rented and good opportunity). I am going to purchase the 4 houses with my brother-in-law as a joint venture. We were told to set up a DBA to put on the lease... But, Is it worthwhile to set up a separate management company (LLC) to manage the houses? We would act under this company to handle everything for these houses, all the leasing, rent, expenses, etc... Is this common? Is it worthwhile from a tax perspective? Any feedback is appreciated!
