I am currently renting out a 2 bedroom apartment. My tenants notified me that their electric bill has doubled in the last few months. It turns out that one of the rooms had an electric baseboard heater as opposed to steam radiators in the other rooms and this was causing the sharp increase in their electric bill. My dilemma is should I offer the tenants a reimbursement for the extra electricity usage? Should I offer a credit going forward for the winter months? These are pretty good tenants and I have not had any issues with them yet.
