@Ryan Howell, I'm a resident and investor in Brevard ... and how this plays out will be very interesting. With the recent election, one council member is somewhat opposed to STR (or more strict regulation) whereas a few of the others (as well as the new Mayor) seem to support STR and trying to find a path forward to support STRs and affordable housing. Many friends and residents in the community depend on that STR income to make ends meet (as friend and resident Lisa Presnell stated in the article). To my knowledge, at this point, it's only the city limits looking at regulations currently. My hunch is that there may be some regulations or registration of rentals coming down the pipeline, but I'll be very surprised if the city pulls a move like Asheville (which would be very detrimental to the local economy in many ways).

I'm not familiar with Asheville specific builders but Bracken Mountain Builders out of Brevard. You could also try Wheelhouse if you're looking for a timber frame house and Greenhouse Builders out of Black Mountain do custom homes as well. Cost per square foot $250+ is pretty standard around here these days.

@Dennis S. Gelbart yes, I would love to reach out to your contact. Please pass that along.Thank you!

Hey WNC investors. I purchased my first investment property in October in Brevard and have been waiting six months to do a cash out refi... and now it's time (and in the midst of the pandemic). I wanted to see if anyone in the WNC community has a bank you prefer. I've called many of the local banks in Brevard and some bigger lenders/national banks as well but not finding anything super great. Anyone have a bank or lender you would recommend? So appreciate the advice.
