the numbers are so good! I'm sure my husband can't turn down an extra 25k a year!

Hey, @Linh Terford! Definitely sounds like you're in the right headspace as far as getting creative and trying to figure it out. How often do your parents visit? Do you think you could Airbnb the two extra rooms when they're not there? House hacking can be hard if privacy is important but if you can handle it for a year, you can move on to another property and use a low down payment option (3-5% for owner-occupied). Maybe the next property you target is multifamily and you can guarantee you have privacy by living in your own unit :)
My parents will only be here maximum of 3 months actually. That's why I'm looking at Airbnb, though I'm not sure about the rules around that, especially with single bedrooms. If you can give me some pointers that would be great! I wanted to ask to pitch it to my husband and see if he can change his mind and be on board with this somehow.
alright, thanks for your input. I will be looking forward to getting an investment property next year then!
What about when we are on vacation?
Looking for ideas! I’m an actual rookie and had no experience with investment properties. My husband and I just bought a single-family home, but we are only using 2 rooms out of the 4 rooms we have (3 beds with a study), plus an attic. One of the guest bedrooms is for my parents when they visit from overseas, most of the time it is vacant. My husband likes his privacy so I’m not sure if we can incorporate any type of house hacking into our home? It’s in a pretty good location if we need to do Air Bnb, though I might need to do more research on that. Any input will help. Thanks!
