Thank you for that information! So if an apartment is under Section 8, it remains so even after being sold? I was wondering if I had to keep the apartment as Section 8 and does this mean that the property would need to be approved by them also? I guess I should do some research on Section 8 housing laws.

My name is Lisa Juarez. My husband Gabriel & I are in the beginning phases of investing. We want to focus on Buy & Hold SFR and MFRs; throwing in a few SFR flips along the way. I am assembling our team in MI (in my home town) from our home in TN.

G works full time and I am recently disabled from work due to spinal fusion surgery and nerve damage in my leg, so I decided this would be a great time for me to pursue my dream of house hunting, which is now leading me to go into selling real estate to help us fund our investing business. This site has given me so much information so thank you very much for being free!

I have reached out to friends in MI through Facebook and have a few of them looking for the professionals I will need to work with. I feel that if I start with a reliable realtor that has connections to reputable Mortgage Brokers, title companies, home inspectors, etc. then it will be much easier to get the deal done. I love to find the listings myself, which takes a lot of the leg work off the realtor! I am excited and anxious to get started, my husband is worried...I'm trying to get him to BELIEVE it will work.

My husband and I are in the beginning stages of property investing. I have a question about buying a multi-Family residence when one of the apartments is Section 8 housing. If I get a conventional mortgage, can we eliminate Section 8 housing? How do I proceed with a MFR with a Section 8 unit in the duplex?
