Thank you for all of your great suggestions! We will be in Spain for 2-1/2 weeks, therefore we will not be able to be contacted while we are away. All of our rentals are in excellent condition and we do keep in touch on a regular basis with all tenants, to make sure everything is in good working order. We only need our friend to be a contact person, in case of an emergency situation. He has the list of our electrician, plumber and handyman should he need to call someone out. The landscaping is already taken care of at each property on a regular basis. That said, I do feel that $500 per week is a bit steep for what we are asking of him. I love the idea of a trade when he travels! I also like the idea of the gift card, as I know he could use that for his own properties! Thanks again for all your help!

My husband and I will be going to Spain for 2-1/2 weeks. We have a total of 10 rental properties. We have a friend who also has rentals, and is willing to be our emergency contact person for our tenants while we are away. If anything goes wrong, he will need to either do repairs, or find someone to do the repairs. He will not need to collect any rent monies. It is possible that he will not need to do anything during our absence, however, should something happen while we are away, he will need to take care of that issue. What is fair compensation for someone to make themselves available while we are away? Any ideas? Thanks!
