Thanks Joe. I am looking to have 2 units, each with 2x2 and each have its own kitchen, living room, etc. The garage is roughly 350  sq ft. Would it be cheaper to finish the garage off with a 600 sq ft slab and build a second story to total 1200 sq ft, or pour the entire 2nd unit's foundation on a 1200 sq ft slab?

I'm currently under contract on a property in SLC that has a 1200 sq. ft. house that was built in the 1940's and a 1 XL garage that is zoned for a duplex. What's the most affordable way to add onto this property so I can finish building the duplex?
