Hi All,

I have recently been looking into buying my very first property ever. My plan is to use my VA home loan benefits to purchase a condo, since the prices of single-family homes are incredibly high, especially here in San Diego, and then after my year of occupancy rent it out and purchase another property. My concern is that if I buy in a market where prices are high, will I potentially lose money if housing prices drop?

@Thom MacFarlane Thank you for the great advice! I have not looked into the VA loan, so I will definitely be doing my research on it. Do you know if I am able to use the VA loan on a small multi-family unit?

Hi @Jolene Blazey

I wanted to ask if these meetups are held regularly? I frequently visit the SFV and would love to attend one of these meetups if possible.

Hey guys!

A little about myself: I am BARELY getting into the world of Real Estate Investing and I am here to learn as much as I can. I have been listening to the podcasts religiously since the day I discovered BP, and have also been taking advantage of all the massive amounts of information from the blogs, forums, and free books provided.

Unfortunately, I do not have much experience in Real Estate. I am a Navy/Marine Corps veteran. A few years ago I graduated from San Diego State with a bachelor degree in Criminal Justice and also got my master's degree in Homeland Security. The past few years I have been working in public service, which I do enjoy, however I have realized that it is not the way I am going to achieve my financial goals.

I very much look forward to connecting with the members of BP and immersing myself into the world of REI. I am excited for what the future brings.
