@Erick Pinzon. Thanks for the reply. What you have described is exactly what we're after. What I have seen so far on the mainstream searches (zillow, redfin, etc) has led me to the newer homes on the 603/Indian River Rd area, south east of salem. Are there any similar under rated areas you'd suggest? Thanks again for your time.

I'm moving from GA to Virginia Beach area and are looking to buy. Our plan is to move up there for a couple years before work takes us on the road again. I'm trying to get a feel for the market, a feel for the locations (we're initially interested inbetween Salem and Dam Neck), and what the rental market is like for us to enter the potential house into (for passive income) once our time is up in VA.
