Glad I listened to you guys. If we had decided to rent to them, things would have turned out horribly wrong. Not so much with my girls but with the extended family. I feel like we dodged a bullet and I owe you all a huge " Thank you!"

And above all else we certainly don't want to damage the relationship with our kids.

This is why I wanted to ask people much more in the know than me. This is also why only my wife and I have been talking about it. We haven't mentioned it to anyone else until we get better perspective on it.

I'm anxious to read more experiences and/or advice.

Thank you.

Hello. Brand New here.

Long story short, we currently have a houseful. Our 2 daughters, my brother-in-law and his wife. Space is at a premium, as you can imagine.

My wife and I are considering moving to a new place and renting the house to them. Right now still in the exploration phase but I'm thinking there could be some serious advantages and drawbacks to this scenario. The house still has a mortgage and, quite honestly, we couldn't afford 2 "rents" should things go South with the kids. Anyone have advice on this? It would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Mark
