As an EU citizen, I don't need to invest to stay there obviously. I assume you meant any non-EU citizen :-)

Lol, come to Czech Republic, "everyone" is scared here about the responsibility, about not paying tenants or some big crisis with real estate...

No one does any favours for non-family here, period: kids have priority, which is also the "excuse" not to have time for nothing :-) Or else, just advertise/register as professional. They want advice? Pay.

I consolidated only for one apartment, always nice to "kill" these other loans :-)

In general, people recommend me to mortgage under my own name: higher LTV and lower interest...

Welcome to the group!

Spain is a nice vacation land, things felt a bit more laid back there. I heard that there was also a visa program for (Russian?) investors... However, Catalonia may be a little tricky these days (protests, aversion against tourists in Barca)...

My dad backed out of Spain, but that was in the 70s: the apartment blocks he saw were too secluded back then...

Anyways, good luck and hope you'll find something nice :)

Nice to hear about your experience, many are already anticipating a slump at the end of 2020: a correction that was bound to come?

I saw some people from Europe on this forum, wanting to invest in the US remotely rather than locally actually. Don't know, I think a local presence is better... The Nomad Capitalist rather uses remote real estate for its comfort, rather than renting it out, it seems...

Anyways, you know quite a bit about me already, looking forward to hear more the coming time!

Yes, they had good conditions in my case, plus premium banking is always nice. Not necessarily the "cheapest" though, and refinancing looks a bit scary with them :-)

Anyways, I bet it doesn't hurt to have a look at the seminar next month ;-)

Cheers,

Matthew

Real estate in Prague now?

Harder than 5 years ago, that's for sure. Especially now they're imposing limitations on the amount one can borrow etc. However, there should still be opportunities, especially now interest is low with expected stagnation...
Best is to have what we say in Dutch: "a long breath",
but that's often so with real estate in general (at least with buy&hold)...

Cheers,

Matthew

Hi, "neighbour" located in Czech Republic here,
Recently I had to check a bit about Berlin real estate (yes, also for my business plan)

As "landlord" since 2014, I should know a few things: financing, renting out...
Let me know if my brains are worth picking :-)

Post: How do you find the owner of an apartment

Hi Jordan,

In Czech Republic it's just a matter of looking up the owner in the cadastre online (make sure you know the apartment number inside).

I do know that it may be harder in other countries though: either pay or contact the local "mairie" there...

Anyways, Google is your friend, as we say in IT :-)

Uff, it takes me quite some time to get 500k :-)

Here in Czech Republic, you can get a private banker for that amount, he/she will then advise how to make that money last... And you'll get "free" airport lounge access to make your flights more comfortble :D

Anyways, aAlthough I would have a slight idea what to do with $500k, you may have different ideas/preferences/etc.
I'd just try out a few things, and stick to whatever you like to do (dip your toe). Just make sure you're not doing anything "silly" (which may be many people's traps)

Don't forget to enjoy too!
