Thanks for all the words of advice. These are all great things to think about and many were not on my radar just yet. Lots of things to think about in your first deal.

Hi all

I am looking to purchase a prop that is going to need more work than I can handle. I am looking to add a kitchen and bath on the main floor of the home. (no idea why there was none before) this will convert this SFR into a multi family. (Zoning is R2 and good to go) So i will need to get a general contractor with subs (plummer and electrical). I have never had to conduct an interview like this before, so I am looking for some good question that are a must. What should I be looking for in a contractor? What are thing to look out for? Any help will be good as I have no idea but am willing to learn.

Also how is a home insured when it is under major construction?

Thanks for the help!

Matt

Let me know if you have any civil engineering work, I may be able to help out. I am licensed in the state of MT and am always looking for work on the side.
