Okkay I am in a bit if a bind, looking for some curbside tax advice (aware I should consult a tax professional)

I sold my primary residence of 4 years in Aug 2020 profitted about 70k on it. I bought a new home the same month in a different state, moved, now thanks to COVID it looks like my job will be cut in 2021.  I have several job offers all of which involve moving again. I know there is some loop hole in the tax law that if you were forced to move due to a loss of a job there is a degree of tax write off, however given that I have sold a home and taken advantage of the tax write off within a two year period Iam not sure that applies.

What is my best option here?

1. sell the home and take the tax hit on any gains?

2. Hold onto it for two years, rent at my new job area and keep the home as my primary residence

Any non professional advice welcome

When purchasing a home through Roofstock or any out of state home is there one good lender to use? or should you look up a local lender in the area of the home you are purchasing?

Considering a Townhome as an investment property, great school district, nice area, No HOA/POA

What are the Pros and Cons of buying a townhome vs a single family (aside from HOA/POA)

Thanks!

Mike

Does anyone have any suggestions on books related to home inspection or things to look for on your first walk through of the home?

Id like to get some background on “red flags” to look out for before even placing an offer and having the home professionally inspected.

Any resources would be awesome!

Thannk!

Do you avoid any multi family that is not completely metered separately?

Looking into house hacking a Duplex but noticed some only have electric metered separate, leaving the owner to pay gas and water.

How much of an emphasis should I place on the home having completely separate meters vs only electric? I know cost is an issue when trying to meter the other utilities but also sometimes not even possible from what Ive read.

Thanks!

Mike
