@J. Martin I definitely felt inspired by your story with the FHA loan and the 2-4 unit. I will definitely save my money and also keep you in mind. You don't mind if I contact you from time to time to tell you my progress, do you?

Yesterday was definitely an eye opening experience for me as I have learned a lot. A lot of the information just blew right over me, but I did take away some useful information and I think overtime with diligent studying and attending such an invaluable meetup like this will help me reach my goal through osmosis.

I learned a lot from everyone there during the meetup, but I think I've a little bit more afterward one-on-one when we got kicked out of the cafe.

I would like to thank @Johnson H. for answering my questions and for leading the discussion.

I would like to thank @Minh L. for answering my newbie questions and recommending to some great book.

I would like to thank @J Martin for inspiring me to want to take his path in finding 4 units duplex with the FHA loan, getting lots of cashflow and making lots of money only in 1.5 years!!! And also for telling us about taking out another FHA loan for another 4 unit duplex...that was awesome information and about your handy man story lol

I would like to thank @Jay Y. for making this happening, for teaching me about many concepts I didn't know before and for staying late after with @Raymond Yeung and me talking about subjects that are not necessarily related to Real Estate haha

@Jay Y.

Hi Jay,

Yes I am definitely interested in a South Bay meetup. Where can I sign up?

@Engelo Rumora

Wow 35 houses in one year??? That's about 2-3 flips a MONTH!! This is encouraging and I will definitely take it upon myself to read "How to Win Friends and Influence People" and "Think and Grow Rich". Do you have any resources on flipping homes for beginners?

@Paul Timmins undefined

Thank you, sir. I have listened to you and have read the Start Here page. Lots of resources.

Hi Amit :) Go BEARS!!

Thank you for your advice, I very much appreciate it.

I was reading your profile on how you went from the tech industry to real estate full time. That is definitely a big change. How did you transition from that to real estate investing full time successfully? Can you give me directions on where to start off?

Hi, I'm Mike Lam. Completely new to Real Estate. I live and reside in the San Jose area. Recently not working and had a sudden intense interest in Real Estate Investing.

The book that got my up fired up was Robert Kiyosaki's "Rich Dad Poor Dad." I also read his other book "Financial IQ". I just downloaded "The Ultimate Beginner's Guide" on this forum and is in the process of reading it.

I am soooo lucky and thankful to have found this forum when I googled "Books to read for real estate", and I can not show enough of my appreciation on here. I am super stoked and excited to soak in what there is to learn to create my first deal.

So far, I am interested in creating wealth through Apartments (multi-family) Investing because Kiyosaki made it seem like it's the best choice when it comes to cashflow and a protection from the market's ups and downs.

As I am writing this, it is October 23, 2013. My goal is to get my first deal out 3 months from now. I'm talking about knowing nothing about real estate to getting a first deal by January 2014 or even on December 2013 (but I know doing deals at the end of the year can be a pain). How can I make this possible?

I would be extremely appreciative to find a highly successful and effective mentor, preferably in the Bay Area/San Jose/San Francisco (but it doesn't have to be from that area), who is willing to show me the ropes in finding a good deal and going through the deal with me.

I will do whatever it takes to succeed, and when I find this mentor, I will return back some of the favor by offering to do some advertising and business marketing for him/her and/or do anything that will show my appreciation.
