Here is the link to property tax calculations. Tax rates are pretty much the same for Montclair and Newark, it is all based on the property value.

I was surprised to see areas like Irvington and East Orange to have the highest rates, but property values are very low.

Hope this helps :)

Hi Altamar,

I am a new B to real estate investing, currently in process of educating myself.

I saw this post, just wanted to ask why are you interested in Essex county area? I currently live in Bloomfield, very familiar with this county, been living all around here and there for about 10 years.

As far as i know this is one of the most expensive counties in NJ in terms of property taxes.

@John Kent - I will  check the school. Thank you

@Jonathan Drago - I think that is the way to activate your license, you have to be associated with broker. Even though you will be flipping houses - you still will need to buy/sell property which will be done through the broker..It appears you bypass the agent and you are your own agent..I might be mistaken, correct me if I am wrong.. :)

Hi Lundy!

I am interested in Online programs since I am not physically in Florida unless there is a class offering in New Jersey that I can take..as far as I know it is not an option. NJ offers classes for NJ License and it is not one of those 8 states that Florida has "agreement".

Congrats on passing exam, yay to that!

Hi All,

I have decided to go for real estate license in Florida; I ve done research on it and the great news to me was the fact that you may take pre-license course online. I wanted to ask whoever took online pre-license to recommend the institution/program. There are very many options out there plus I am not  a resident in Florida, would be great to hear from someone who took the course. Thanks so much!

Hi All!

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I just signed up for Bigger Pockets and wanted to introduce myself to the community. I currently reside in NJ and looking into real estate investing in Orlando, Florida. I am also planning to relocate to Florida within a year. I am a "CPA" (pending license), my background includes tax/accounting for Private Equity and Hedge funds. I am looking to create multiple sources of income, which would include real estate investing, and network with like minded people.  I am very excited about joining this community. I am open to learning about this industry and would want to provide value in return for expertise and knowledge.

Thank you all!
