I am still fairly new to flipping properties. I have been told to stay away from going after HUD homes? but no one has given me a reason not too. Is there any reason not to buy a HUD home to fix & flip? dont they work the same as regular REOs?

I have noticed that also, it seems on day 1 the house is listed there is already 10+ offers on the house. But then I wonder, maybe I am being lied too and they are trying to get me to raise my offer, but who knows. what state do you live in P NW?

thanks James, that was helpful. The properties I was looking at had already been foreclosed on and were REOs. I was told by fellow investors to reach the asset manager, if the property has been repoed the REO department is who I need to speak with about purchasing it? I am not trying to by pass the listing agents, just trying to get to the properties sooner instead of waiting for them to be listed

hey James, I was trying to purchase homes that were not yet listed. I guess the bank was holding on to them, not sure why. but for about 3 months I was actively trying to contact an asset managers from different banks and wasnt getting anywhere. I am out in Southern CA what would be the best way of getting in touch with an asset manager?
