I am a Realtor in CT and came across a home that is fully paid off and the owner passed away in 2019. No tenants, just abandoned and depleting...
Spoke to the ex-husband, he gave me the scoop and also mentioned that there is no next of kin. No kids, no family, nothing. He doesn't want it and as far as he knows, wouldn't be up next bc they divorced before her passing.
QUESTION: Is there a way for one (me) to become the owner of this unclaimed property?
In Connecticut, our laws of Adverse Possession have a 15-year minimum. Otherwise, without next of kin, it would become state property.
I am willing to pay off any liens, blights etc. Anyone know of a way to make this work? Let me know!!
