Florida,

If you have the opportunity to go, then go. I know too many people who are busting their butt through college in their 30s and 40s. With the rest of their life going on around them. Kids, jobs, motgages, lives ... etc etc.

College will also teach you a number of things beyond your classes. Socialization, networking, discipline, follow through and time management. All of which can be directly applied to whatever you do after school.

Point is, you'll learn a lot in college, whether you want to or not, and a four year degree will give you OPTIONS. Let me say that again ... OPTIONS. If REI doesn't work out for you, a degree can get you into another career that interests you, not just a job.

Good Luck,

Hello and welcome to the forum.

The bandit signs are just a way of bringing in business. The people on this forum no doubt use them. They may be wholesaling them or they may be rehabbing. Wouldn't hurt to ask.

You may also want to look for a local REI club. You can gain a great deal of knowledge from them. Its people doing what you want to learn to do.

In reference to the auctions, just go and observe. Watch who's bidding. Get familiar with the process. I'm in York, PA and its pretty much the same people at all of the auctions. Not sure how it is everywhere else.

Doni,

First congrats on what you have done with your home so far.

That would be your call. There are a number of things to consider. In terms of value, are you at the top of your neighborhood? If so, too many improvements will price you out of your neighborhood range and possibly make your home difficult to sell should you need to.

Conversely, you could keep the house and use the equity that you have built to purchase other properties. If you have upside in terms of price then by all means. But whatever you do, remember, Return on Investment (ROI). REI is a business and you want to extract as much value from your investment for the lowest cost.

Second, talk to anyone and everyone that you know that has real estate knowledge. Read everything you can. Here, books at Borders or the library, whereever. You should also try to narrow down what type of investing you would like to do. Do you want to be a landlord? Do you want to rehab? Do you want to find and wholesale properties to other investors like your boss? There are a number of ways to invest in real estate, you just need to figure out which of them interest you.

Good Luck,

NavyDoc

all cash,

Exception noted. I should have explained that that was an exagerated personal observation.

I'll second all cash's other observation in that you should NEVER cover old siding. My personal opinion is that this rule applies to shingles, siding, decks etc etc etc. Replace it.
