Thank you all for the responses, it's great being introduced to others in the local real estate community.

Allen, I originally grew up in Santa Ynez before relocating to San Luis Obispo; glad to see others from so close to home. I might have some questions regarding working real estate in the Santa Ynez area at some point if you don't mind lending me some information!

Thanks again all,

Nick

Hey BiggerPockets community:

I'm new to the forums here and excited to learn as much as I can about all aspects of real estate. I'm currently located in San Luis Obispo, CA, and originally from Santa Barbara. I'm a recent Cal Poly San Luis Obispo graduate with a degree in international politics and minor in economics. I've been working as a firefighter with the state of California for about 3 years now, but looking to transition into the real estate world when the opportunity arises. My job skills I've gathered don't specifically pertain to  real estate, but working as a firefighter I've learned how to work my *** off (which might count for something). I'm particularly interested in learning about commercial real estate, although residential real estate info is equally as valuable.
