@Josiah Pisel Thank you for your kind words. I completely agree that setting the right goals is the key to achieving success. Thanks again for taking the time to welcome me to the forums.
@Sara Marshall It is cool that you have a connection with Libby. It's pretty amazing how small the world is once you start talking with people. I actually grew up here and returned a few years ago. I wonder if I know your aunt or friends. Kalispell is experiencing unprecedented growth right now, I can't believe how much it has changed. Thank you for taking the time to welcome me to BP.

I just wanted to say “Thank you” to each of you that took the time to welcome me to the Bigger Pockets community.
@Joshua D. It is very encouraging to hear that you have made small town Montana investing work for you. I was wondering if all of your units were within your local area and what kind of investments they were, ie. buy and hold, flip, or a mixture. If you are interested in sharing, I would love to hear about your model. I think it would teach me a lot and I have so much to learn. Thanks again.
@Dmitriy Fomichenko Thank you for the links to help me get familiar with the site and get some more places to learn. I have checked out a few of the podcasts and they are very informative and motivational. Thank you.

I am brand new to the field of REI. I have become seriously interested within the past 3 weeks and found Bigger Pockets about 10 days ago. Since that time, I have been soaking up everything I can from this and other sites, the BP podcast and I just ordered The Book on Investing In Rental Properties by Brandon Turner. I have read a few of the posts in the forums and feel like I am ready to step out and use the forums to begin networking, learning from fellow investors and getting feedback on if any potential deals are actually deals.
Like I said in the subject line, I live in Libby, Montana, which is a small rural town in the NW corner of the state. It is not a booming metropolis and I am unsure of what kind of local deals I can make. My plan is to buy a local single family home for rental in the coming months and use that to "learn the ropes." I am open to going to other markets and would like to move up to multifamily units. My goal is to grow this to enough cash flow that my wife doesn't have to return to work and she can stay at home to raise our children.
I am comforted by the community here at Bigger Pockets and knowing that it is not only filled with new investors looking to take the plunge like I am, but also with seasoned veterans that prove REI to be a great option to grow personal wealth.
Thanks for your time in reading this intro and I hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
Nick Peterson
