Hey Daymien, I'm currently house hacking in Danvers. Peabody might be a good area to look into as well.

I've found that in the Greater Boston area, a lot of houses are affordable via house hacking. However, in my case, they're only affordable if I'm house hacking. In other words, I would not be able to make the payments on these houses if I didn't have tenants. Also, I don't have a solid rule to help me determine how much is too much for a house hack, and I was wondering if you did.
In the context of monthly take home pay (e.g. "No more than x% of take home pay") or any other context, how much is too much? How much is just right? Thanks!

Hey Siddharth,
I'm currently house hacking in Danvers. House hacking is a great way to get into real estate. My advice would be to be patient. I'm not sure how the market is in New Bedford, but it's pretty hot in the Greater Boston area. Properties are going for tens of thousands over asking price without contingencies.
If the New Bedford market is anything close to what it's like up here, don't let yourself get frustrated if your offers don't get accepted. Keep making offers, and be patient.
Good luck!

Hey Adam. If you get a partner (e.g. your parents, other relatives, etc.) that has some dough, has a consistent source of income, and trusts you, they might be able to put the loan in their name.

I recommend any of the BP books. Brandon Turner and Josh Dorkin's How to Invest in Real Estate is a great beginner's book. The Book on Rental Property Investing by Brandon Turner goes into a little more detail.
