Post: Looking to connect with people in the Winnipeg, MB area

Hi Mark,

If you are looking to connect with people in your area, create a meetup group. Ask a local pub if you can host a meetup there with the agreement that people will buy at least a drink. Then advertise on BP, Craigslist, and Kijiji or where ever it's free. I am sure you are not the only one in your area that's looking to network. And I am sure at least 1 other person would attend. There doesn't have to be a topic just spin it as wanting to connect with locals or as you see fit. Did a light bulb go off in your head? No pun intended...lol bad joke. Good luck.

Go Mark go.

@Frank Patalano  thank you for taking the time to respond. Yes I started to attend meetups and knowing that this is a slow process. In the mean time I am educating myself more. Thank goodness for this site.

Frank thank you for your kindness and advice.

Great question. For myself fear. I am educating myself as much as I can. I have bought/held and sold a duplex few years ago made some mistakes along the way but also learnt some. I would love to make this a full time career. I have done the agent side of RE for a couple of years, realized that sales is not by strong suit. I also have taken a carpentry course in QC about 8 yrs now, worked doing interior work on and off. I definitely prefer to work with my hands.

So what's stopping me?

Hoping to learn more about analyzing properties and partnering up with 1-4 investors and build a business from there. That can be tricky finding the right people. I am in Canada looking to purchase within Canada and US.

In short:

-Fear of failing

-Not comfortable analyzing properties as yet

-Wanting to build a team of 1-4 and build a business

Hi Adrian, first congratulations for wanting to put your $$$ into real estate at your age, very smart move. I am new to the forum but can see that there is a wealth of information and open minded individuals willing and wanting to help one another (love that). I can see that Scott Innocente has already made contact with you, he is one of the go to for Windsor as I am seeing so far.

My advice to you and your team would be to take in as much information as you can, network with experienced investors, always be honest and open with your friends/partners, make sure everyone for the most part is on the same page and doing their part. I wish you and your friends the best of luck.
