Is that so? Can I connect with you on LinkedIn? I'm planning to move to Austin next year so I definitely see an opportunity for partnership here.

Hi Adam. I'm actually an engineer as well (cloud engineer for Oracle. We have an office in Austin actually and I'm thinking about requesting to move there). I heard that a lot of engineer companies like Boeing are moving to Houston nowadays. Are you also optimistic about the overall tech job market in Houston? Also, can I add you on Linkedin?

We moved back here from Bay area about 20 years ago.  1st to Austin, then to DFW area.  There are differences.  One thing I often say about the property taxes.  Maybe in CA you pay 1%, but $1mil house there might be $400K here in Texas so even with 2.5% property taxes, taxes end up being about the same.  No state income tax....and less dumb taxes here.  So far no wealth tax proposal and no unrealized wealth tax proposal.  Move soon or Mr. Gavin may appropriate some of your wealth, even if you haven't had the chance to enjoy it yet.

Thank you Bruce for your reply. It seems like the wealth tax will only affect the top 0.15%, but I do agree with you that there are already plenty of dumb taxes in California. I'm already paying 30% of my monthly income to income tax here...

Is there anything I should be aware of if I'm investing in Austin? I know that Austin is a liberal city so is there any policy drawbacks for property investing compare to Dallas or Houston? Thank you.

I am a current Californian resident with some real estate experience and is considering moving to Texas. Despite their high property taxes, Texas has generally low housing prices that contrast starkly to that of California. And I heard a lot of Californians are moving to Texas for similar reasons, in addition to many other good things about Texas. Has anyone else invested in Texas before? What is your experience like? Thank you.

I am a current California resident who owns a property in LA and is considering moving to Texas next year. Over the last couple months, I have heard a lot about Californians moving to Texas. Despite the high property taxes, the low housing prices in cities like Houston contrast drastically to that of California, and there seems to be a huge potential for market growth. Is there anyone else considering or have been investing in Texas? What's your experience like over there?
