For all you who missed - here are some pictures from the event. We learned about David Crabtree's very humble beginnings, and how he was able to build a successful real estate business, development and investment companies, weathered the storm of the last recession, and continues to do well today.

Some key takeaways:

1. Raise your standards. To do better you need to hold yourself, your business, your clients, and what you do to a higher standard.

2. Come with a plan. Make a plan for your life and chart a course for the direction you want to go.

3. Have Accountability. This can come from a friend, a mentor, a business partner, a coach. Without someone holding you accountable to your plan you are less likely to achieve it.

He also shared about how he has been able to give back and serve our community. He shared that integrity is everything and if you want to succeed longterm you have to go about building your portfolio in an honest way.

We hope to see you at the investor mixer next month if you missed this one!

If anyone else in San Luis Obispo County is interested in attending, we will be meeting at 5:30PM at Barrelhouse in Templeton tomorrow, Thursday, November 11. We will be discussing real estate investing, development, and building a real estate business.

Our guest speaker started out with very humble beginnings and has built a very sizable real estate business for himself and his livelihood. It should be a great chance to meet and greet other investors, agents, and people in the industry.

Hope to see you there!

We will be hosting our next Central Coast real estate mixer at Barrelhouse on November 11th at 5:30 PM. It will be hosted at BarrelHouse Brewing Co. - Brewery and Beer Gardens.

We will be getting together to mix and mingle with other agents and investors and then have a special presentation.

The guest speaker is David Crabtree. David is a real estate broker and owner of a real estate company, a real estate developer, builder, and serial entrepreneur. He will be sharing his story of getting into real estate and how he's built his investment portfolio. You won't want to miss it.

Here is a picture from last month's real estate investor mixer:

Real estate is all about relationships. Come on out and meet new people, learn new things, and grab some good food and drinks.

Hi Carlos, I've sold some lots in Los Osos and in Cambria before, not in Cayucos yet though they are affected the same. The current moratorium has been in place for 30+ years and there isn't any sure sign that it will be lifted. Los Osos seems to hold some promise as they have recently installed a sewer system and are making progress towards potential development. Take a look at this article from the Tribune to learn more. https://www.sanluisobispo.com/...
I've sold lots for people who thought they could get a great deal on some land by the coast. One person bought for $10,000 30 years ago and we sold it for $15,000 a few months ago... not the greatest rate of return. Another lot was purchased 5-6 years ago with the intention of building on it once the moratorium was lifted, and this never happened. The valuable thing about this lot was that it had a spot in line on the water waitlist, which is a huge value add. If you don't have a spot on the waitlist when you buy the lot, it will be challenging to get a spot. They ended up listing and selling it a few years later because it didn't show signs of being buildable anytime soon. However, the person who purchased that lot ended submitting plans to the county to build a home on it, in a sense getting themselves a place in line when development opens up.

I'd be very careful pursuing a lot in Los Osos of Cayucos for these reasons. Don't fall prey to the low price tag. It's low for a reason. Some of these lots will never be developed in our lifetimes.

Z Villages is doing an awesome project downtown in Atascadero right now across the street from City Hall. They are totally revitalizing the core of downtown Atascadero. Get ready to go over some big picture, real estate development content!

If you haven't been to one of these mixers before, we do them about once per month. We have a guest speaker, do some networking and mingling with some food and drinks, and then sometimes we get to do a field trip to an actual investment property or project. It's been a lot of fun! Here's a picture of the group at our last one!

Hi Patrick, glad to see you're interested! This is going to be a great event!

Does anyone else in San Luis Obispo County want to come? We will be meeting in Atascadero which is a good central spot between San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles. Anyone on the whole central coast of California is welcome!
