Hey everyone! I'm exploring alternatives to the MLS, and I've come across various types of auction websites: Homepath, Realtytrac, ForecloseHouston, Harris County Tax Sales, etc.

What is the difference between all these sites?

Are the listed properties unique to the site or can they be listed on multiple sites?

Which ones are worth exploring?

Are there other alternatives to the MLS that you've found success in?

Any guidance is appreciated, thank you in advance!

Great advice, thanks for the information everyone. Sounds like Houston will be a buyer's market soon enough.

In addition to Googling, any other advice how to identify which markets (outside of one's own) would be worth exploring?

Great tip @Walker Seid! Are all 3 of your properties in Richmond? And where have you purchased so far this year?

Hi Everyone!

Looking forward to engaging with and learning from you all. I was born, raised, and currently live in Houston, TX, working in sales for a commercial real estate fund. I also have my real estate license.

Just like Russell Crowe in Gladiator, I am trying to win my freedom. In my case, it's freedom from a beige 2' x 3' desk. Not even a cubicle! I'm open to using real estate any way I can (landlording, flipping, wholesaling, etc) to get me there.

I already own a primary residence and am looking to dive right in, perhaps with a rental property.

What are your thoughts on the Houston market?

Cheers,

Patrick
