A friend of mine is currently looking for a Real Estate lawyer in Hampton Roads, Virginia. She is located in Portsmouth and is having issues with the city with regards to a house that she sold 2010; however, they didn't add the deed to the land in the sale. The city has been charging her taxes on the land and now that the house is vacant they are charging her for upkeep. Can anyone assist with finding a resolution to this problem?
What exactly should we google, Rich?

Has anyone used any of the HML's referenced under the HML Tab on the BP Website, and received funding? If so, how was your experience?

This is good info for me. An acre of land not too far from it sold for 80K last year. I'm going to make an offer. Thank you for the info. She owes less than what an acre of land costs down there. I appreciate your input!
Ms. Brown,
The house is located in Lexington Park, MD. Built in 1900, 1100 SQFT 2 bed, 1 bath, sitting on 4 acres. needs full rehab or a complete tear down. No recent comps for the area based on the age of the home and size. The "comps" range from $74K & $260K. All of the comps are 60+ years younger than the premises and were all sold between 2002-2015. The home for 260K sold in 2014. Looking for 100K Obo. Nice rectangular 4 acre lot.

I didn't make an offer. The house would either need to be fully rehabbed or torn down. Told her to get me the pay off amount from the bank and we will go from there. I'm not sure that she was telling me the truth about it because initially she told me that she owned the house free and clear. So we shall see. Any advice?
