Post: Looking to move from Chicago to Atlanta

Hi All,

I am looking to move from Chicago to Atlanta and I am not sure which strategy would work best in Atlanta (house-hack? or short-term rentals? I don't seem to find many MFHs for house hacking, also, might not be looking hard enough).

I would like to live in a condo preferably so I can do short-term rentals? But, I want to see what REIs in Atlanta say.

Could I please have some advice?

@Johnathan Greene - That makes complete sense to me. Really appreciate the feedback and the people you recommended. This is a time for me to learn and save more.

What are your thoughts on purchasing a single-family or multi-family home with 25% down while in my lease? I just moved into this place on October 1st. Not ready to move out just yet. If I purchase a property I'm looking around Bronzeville, Bridgeport, Belmont Craigin, Rogers Park, and Edgewater.

I'm new to the investing world but I am willing to learn from other people who have experience.

Hi All,

I live in Chicago, IL and I am currently renting an apartment with an 18-month lease. After signing my lease I stumbled upon the book "How to Invest in Real Estate for beginners." This inspired me that other people have created wealth and freedom.

I currently have $20k for a down payment for a property and I was thinking of purchasing a single/multi-family property for less than $300k and put 3-5% on a conventional loan. My goal is to purchase this property and have it cash flow to help assist with the rent and possibly have a home for my partner and me after the 18-month lease.

Have other people been in a situation where they rent but purchase a multi/single-family home and use the income to pay off other debts (ie. student loans)?
