Post: Looking for Reliable general contractor in Rochester, NY (Investor-Friendly)

Hey everyone 👋

I recently closed on a duplex in Rochester, NY (the 19th Ward to be specific) and am looking for a reliable general contractor who’s investor-friendly and experienced with rental rehabs.

Project includes adding a full bathroom, and cosmetic rehab plus some light updates throughout. Ideally, I'm looking for someone who communicates well, sends photos/videos, and understands rental-grade finishes and budgets.

If you’ve worked with a good GC or have recommendations in the Rochester area, I’d really appreciate your referrals or intros. 🙏

Thanks in advance!

Hi Josh!

I know this post is 3 years old, I hope your project when well. I am currently looking for a GC in the 19th Ward as well, following up on your post, have you found any good GC and could recommend it to me? I'd really appreciate it!

This is so informative, thank you so much for decided to share your experience 5 years ago! I wonder if you can share a little more information on this "incredible video conference"  you had? I read a few forum about hard money lender and still have some question regarding whether they would give a loan on both the purchase price and cost of rehab? I'm looking at a 35K home and my realtor told me most bank don't lend for anything less than 100K nowaday.

Post: Lender for Travel Nurse in Rochester NY

Hey everyone,

I'm having trouble being approved for a loan right now because I worked as a travel nurse in 2021-2023, currently holding a per diem nurse working full time hours. The lenders I spoke to deter me from purchasing a home right now even though I told him I have W2 from previous staffing agencies and the current hospital.

I've looked all over the forum but not see any recommendation for lenders in NY area. If anyone knows of a lender in Rochester NY who is willing to work with me (and get creative) and who has also worked with other travel nurses in the past, please point them my way! Feel free to DM me if you don’t want to share their info on the forum.

*I should also mention that I have excellent income, savings, and credit and like I mentioned above, am very motivated to buy and become a real estate investor!*

Thank you in advance
