Post: Deductibles on interest paid to a hard money lender

I used a hard money lender to do a rehab.  I also used some of my personal money to finish the flip. Can I recover any of my loses on the interest I paid or my other expenses?

Thank you,

Hi Neomi,

You shouldn't feel skeptical on it as long as he/she is bringing something to the table to help complete the transaction. I just completed a co-wholesale deal where I tied up the property and he brought the buyer. We completed the deal and split the profits. Basically, if you can't finish the deal on your own and need someone to help, why not do so? Splitting the profits on a deal is better then splitting nothing if you can't close the deal yourself. Just make sure you both have an understanding of who gets what in the end.  Hope everything plays out right for you.
