@Daryl Luc Eastside: Cleveland Heights, Shaker Heights, University Heights. Thanks for your recommendation. The area we are looking at is a sellers market, but we are prime candidates given our employer, stability, credit, and history. Like I said, I never had issues renting before. I want to make sure that this is standard practice for a LL rather than become a scam victim. It is a single family home.

Thanks again @Daryl Luc Do not misconsture my ignorance for being ready to 'make a point'. I am simply looking for clarity regarding my situation as I have never had problems renting before. I am not pursuing legal action, nor do I intend to. It is diffcult to hunt for housing when LL take your fee and do not respond thereafter. Completing 4-5-6 applications can become quite expensive.

Thank you for your prompt replies. @Daryl Luc I have not been provided any copies of any information request forms. The LL's application states 24-48 turnaround time. But still, the application fee is meant to cover the cost of information requests, ie: credit check. It cannot be legal to accept a fee and do nothing but pocket it, right? Thanks again.

Hi. I am a prospective tenant in Cleveland, Ohio. My SO and I completed application on Tuesday and payed fee immediately for rental property. LL followed up next day stating she received applications and fee. It has been a week and we have not yet heard back from the LL. We have e-mailed and called and have been very cordial in our correspondence. We asked a friend to express interest in the unit to see if she could get a response. She received a response within 12 hrs. How quickly does a credit inquiry appear on your credit report so I can confirm she actually did run a credit check? If she did not, I have right to pursue legal action. If she did, how do I elicit a response of rejection or do I just chalk it up as a loss? Thanks for your expertise!
