hi, I am taking courses in AL to get my real estate license in order to invest. I have met with a couple of the bigger agencies around Birmingham and they are looking for a percentage of the commission on each sale but I wanted to see if anyone knew of a broker I could put my license with who only asked for a fee per transaction. I have another six weeks but with everything else I am trying to line up I thought I would check on bigger pockets for some advice. Thanks

My situation is a little different. I am a stay at home mom with 4 kids and my husband works from home. I am looking into to property managers and weighing my options of which way to go.
Because I am just starting out I am not sure I want to jump in fully in with C neighborhoods. I have the capital from my last flipand I am leaning toward finding a cheaper A/B home and putting a little in to rent it for more or to flip it, which ever works in my favor. After I have homes, more experience and a larger network to help me I might look into simply buying multiple C homes to rent.
As a beginner I am just not sure how far I want to jump, which I guess is why I am on biggerpockets trying to get input :)

Hi, I recently moved to the area after flipping our primary residence outside of ATL. While I am originally from North Alabama I don’t have any connections in the Bham area that are involved in real estate except for the agent we used to buy the house. We the capital we earned from the last house we want to start investing in buy and holds. Because of other connections we considered Homewood/Vestavia but the price of homes and taxes would prevent us from acquiring multiple homes in the beginning. I would like some input on the Hoover and Gardendale areas, or any other that seems profitable. Any thoughts would help, Thanks.
