@Ned Carey Hey Ned, taking your advice just joined NJREIA, and plan to attend some other local meetups within the next month! So I will reply to this comment afterwards for accountability for myself.

@Shawn Mcenteer Hey Shawn, would love to tag along with you some time! And to add I am all in on the house hacking game!

@Ned Carey Appreciate that post Ned, I actually did read that beforehand! I think my most valuable asset I can contribute is being quick on my feet and learning fast, its helped me get into the position I am in today. My network is probably my most lacking part I wish I knew more people just in general. I have a good amount of friends but none whos family contribute to real estate investing. My main goal for this post was to see if there was someone out there who could use some help in any area at all. I truly am eager to build a relationship with someone in the game already and am willing to contribute any means necessary to make myself valuable to them.

Hi BiggerPockets community,

I’m an electrical engineer based in New Jersey, and I’m looking for a real estate mentor who’s willing to take on a dedicated, driven learner. I don’t have much capital or real estate experience yet, but I’m serious about breaking into real estate the right way — by learning directly from someone who’s done it. Though I am based in New Jersey I would be open to a virtual mentorship as well!

I’m smart, tech savvy, and analytical with a solid income and stable lifestyle. More importantly, I’m coachable. I take direction well, absorb information quickly, and I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty. Whether it’s helping you research deals, run numbers, manage tasks, or shadow your process, I’m happy to work for free in exchange for mentorship and a chance to learn.

I’m not looking for handouts I just want the opportunity to be around someone who’s built something real, so I can learn, grow, and eventually build something of my own.

If you’re open to mentoring someone willing to learn and willing to hustle, I’d love to connect.

Thanks for reading,

Richie

Hey everyone,

My name is Richard Herro, and I’m a new investor based in New Jersey. I’ve been listening to the BiggerPockets podcast daily on my commute and finally decided to jump into the forums to learn, connect, and start taking action.

A little about me:

I work as a Substation Design Engineer and currently live near the Jersey Shore.

I’m focused on learning about house hacking, buy-and-hold rentals, and creative financing strategies.

Right now, my biggest challenges are:

Understanding the best financing options for a first-time investor.

Finding a solid market near me that aligns with my budget and goals.

Learning how to analyze deals with confidence.

If anyone has tips, resources, or experiences they’d be willing to share, I’d love to hear them! Looking forward to connecting and contributing where I can.
